Simulation, Data Analysis and AI: The Future of Medical Technology?

Development of Medical Technology and Research

This week for the second time the symposium "Daten statt raten" took place - a top-class event about virtual clinical studies, simulation and data analytics in medical technology by MedicalMountains GmbH.

Exiting insights were presented on the following topics, among others:

  • Simulation in Cardiology
Dr. Nils Karajan presented how the positioning and opening of artificial heart valves can be simulated.

  • Personalized Implants
Dr. Ronja Schierjott-Hermle from Aesculap emphasized that simulations help to make substantiated decisions in joint replacement operations.
However, access to pathological data remains a challenge.
  • Cleaning Simulations
Michael Ehlen: Expert knowledge from simulation technology and medical technology is crucial for realistic models.
  • AI in Sports Medicine
Prof. Christophe Ley showed how AI can predict injuries - using wearables as a data source.

Challenges and Future Perspectives:

  • Standardized data is essential for the development of better models
  • Best Practices need to be shared to drive progress faster
  • AI and simulations will make revolutionary leaps in the next 10-15 years

Particularly impressive:

In addition to the specialist presentations, a microphone thrown around and embedded in a foam cube was used for an interactive discussion round.

Conclusion:

Close cooperation between companies, universities and regulatory authorities is needed to advance simulation technologies in medical technology.
The future is promising!
