Ecclesiastical administrative district

Today, the Archdiocese of Freiburg largely covers the territory of the former Baden district and the former Hohenzollern district of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The Archdiocese of Freiburg was founded in 1827 and today comprises 26 deaneries in Baden-Württemberg. With about 1.9 million Catholics, the archdiocese is one of the largest of the 27 dioceses in Germany.
